Being Patient Gets Rewarded

We live in a society of instant gratification, where everything is wanted now. It's one of the reasons people are in so much trouble with their credit and financial management.

Patience is defined as a state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one's character can take before negativity.

While on a vacation, we had the occasion to be along the shore at sunset, or very close to sunset. A scene was playing out on the horizon that I thought could be very interesting, and maybe one of those 'once in a lifetime opportunities'.

The instant gratification part of us would have said, how pretty, let's go get dinner. The patient part of us said lets just stay around for a bit and enjoy the moment.

In our lives, we must often make the decision to wait and think through a situation before proceeding. We definitely need to do that with our clients, as they can have the disposition to want to jump before knowing all the various scenarios they may face.

That is when our experience and knowledge is needed and when we have to do our best work. We are required to impart to our clients the pros and cons of jumping into a deal, especially when we can anticipate problems.

Patience is the ability to endure and with patience there can be a reward that truly justifies taking our time and not making a hasty decision.

Being impatient would have had us taking off and not getting to see that perfect capture of time. We would have had a fine memory, but being patient gave us a precious moment.
